NOT READY FOR PREGNANCY YET? THEN PROTECT YOURSELF WITH BIRTH CONTROL


These are modern days and many of the young ladies are either in institutes of higher learning or working in blue chip company pushing their carreer forward. So are not ready yet to start a family even though they maybe married.
Another group are those ladies that already have one or more children and are thinking of delaying child birth or stop all together.

To all these ladies there are many ways of protecting yourself from unwanted pregnancies . Yes there are many birth control options available to them.

The most popular one is the condom popularly called rubber or raincoat. They are highly effective against preventing unwanted pregnancy . What is unique about them is that they can protect one from getting pregnant as well as sexually transmitted disease.

It is important that one look for and buy condoms that are known for their strength and durability so as to prevent break and leakage.

Another birth control method that is effective is the Birth Control Pills. This requires taking of a pill each and everyday of the month. This method works if only the lady obeys the rules and never miss a pill.

Birth control pills are not suitable for smokers, and ladies with uterine tumours and cysts.

If one think she is likely to miss one day or more with the pills. Another very efficient method is the Depo injection, this is very convenient because it can last for 3 months and sometimes stops the menstruation. The negative part of this method is that Depo has been linked to poor absorption of calcium. That is why Depo users are urged to take calcium supplement each day.

The last method I wil describe in this write up is the use of Intrauterine Contraceptive Device [IUCD]. These can come in different forms such as the Copper-T, Mirena Coil, Loop etc. They are all designed to stop pregnancy , this is either done with the use of a copper device which is spermicidal or ones that release progestin [hormones].

Two mehods that I will not recommend for ladies to use as a means of birth control options are emergency contraception , like a quick shot from your doctor or the use of abortion as a means of birth control. The effect of these methods in the long run can be devastating.

However among the 3 earlier methods described, I am sure ladies can find one that suit them and can prevent unwanted pregnancies until they are ready to start or continue having children.
